Having a browse through ebay.de always brings up some interesting Omega items.

In all honesty, I'm not sure what it is? It's listed as only fitting the 2.6, 3.2 and 2.5 DTI with ESP...I wonder what else is needed to get a functioning ESP system?

I wonder if it'd be much better than the TC system?

At least I know what the item below is  ...

The replacement ESP switch that goes where our TC switch currently is.

They should've done all the little extra bits they did to german Omegas over here. They got some nice kit which we didn't get.

Extra Sensory Perception, Does this mean they will defrost the windscreen and switch on the heated seats half hour before you use the car by reading your mind ?

Certainly a different ABS ECU (and hydraulic unit?), needs yaw sensors, steering angle sensor....

I've got the ESP on my current car, MY2002.

It is a pain. Works too aggressive, you don't want it to your cars  Brakes the front wheels practically in every corner on snow...

I much preferred the old one as it was TC only.

I dont remember one ever checking what traction control system was fitted.

Yes. And sometimes they do like to intogate ecu's ESP if safety systems fail or a personal injury claim

The only ones I have ever dealt with knew very little about anything, in fact they are normally in such a rush they hardly even look at the car

On the contrary, the ones I've come across have been very switched-on.  :-?

Obviously they won't take the car apart with a fine tooth comb for a parking dent, but, if the claim is looking sufficiently expensive and/or they have reason to suspect something's not as it should be, they will invest plenty of time finding out the truth.

Direct line wanted to fit depo instead of genuine headlight, I argued it was not same spec, as original or the other undamaged side, plus the continental beam lever was inaccessible behind the hid gubbins. Assessor didn't mess about and agreed a genuine Hella, but he went round checking tyre tread depth, tax disc, mileage, chassis number etc...

I have seen them check. Maybe I was that 1 in a 1000. And there was no dispute who's fault it was, but I think they were expecting a possible whiplash claim.


Additionally, Mrs TB's brother used to be involved in the safety systems for a large UK Indian car manufacturer, and he used to occasionally get involved post accident safety system deployments/failures, and generally undeclared modifications to those systems only goes 1 way in a court of law...
