Oh Yes !!!............................. I love LPG
« on: 04 March 2011, 22:28:01 »

Well it was MOT time again, I had been racking up the miles, there was a clonk from the O/S/F, a slight blow from the exhaust, the EML was on, and I was dreading what else would turn up.

I had taken 3 days off to get things sorted, went to my usual place but he was busy, but found another place I had often passed. It was a small garage, 3 blokes who know what they are doing quietly working away, experience rather than service station mentality. I booked for later that afternoon and went home to recheck the handbrake, and redo the LPG filler which was looking a bit naff.

So with the EML still on  I presented the car. The chap walked round, looked under the bonnet, assessing things, and then asked me"What's the normal fuel ?". Well its LPG I normally used so.... OK says he. Things progressed, he stuck the sniffer up the exhaust, I mentioned the EML light and how I thought it was the front lambda and one was on order. Its OK he said cause its LPG, we don't check the lambda, just emissions. Mine were CO, limit 3.500, actual 0.009, LPG PPM limit 1200, actual 162, so well inside the figures.

Basically, 2 tyres were worn, and needed replacing, the front O/S bald on the inside, so something need sorting, but that was it,

A PASS  :y :y :y :y :y :y

I shot off and got 4 new boots, and he was happy and I got certified for another year (sorry that's not right its the car not me, or is it ? !)

Ken

Mind you I still don't know what the clonk is ..........

Nice one .. but methinks 2+2= ????

Clonk from the front + inner edge tyre wear = Wishbones !!!

Omegas are VERY susceptible to camber angle

and possibly drop links as well

But get the wishbones checked .. even though they have just passed an MOT !!

Then a full geometry setup . :)

Yes, I am going to have a look tomorrow,. Wishbones, what is the current thinking, fit new ones, Lemforder seem to be good, or Poly bush the existing ones ?.  I guess it would make sense to replace the wishbones anyway, but.....
