Is it a shame to break them ?

I have been reading with interest some recent posts about how to make the most money from  your Omega. It seems that breaking them up and selling off the parts is the way to get the best return. I noted that Pete responded in Guys thread, that the most money can be made from high spec Omegas by dismantling them.
I have an interest here as I recently acquired a 52 plate 3.2 Elite in Black which needs some work. I would really like to bring it back to its former glory and sell it as a car, but my head is telling me that its better to break it and sell the bits.
I have been pondering this for the last week, and Im still not sure which way to go tbh.
I was swayed somewhat by just seeing this immaculate looking Elite on ebay. Looks like a nice car, described as in good running order, but its being sold in parts rather than as a whole car. Seems a shame, but I guess that more people are realising that in reality, thats the way to make the most money from them.

The Facelift CDX I just picked up was from a Vauxhall main dealer, it had done 37,000 miles and ok the cambelt had jumped teeth but the whole car cost me a whopping £95.

The best part is, its got a new genuine cambelt kit (fitted to test the compression) new auxiliary belt tensioner and 3/4 of a tank of fuel. I've told them that should they get anymore cheap PXs to give me a call, i'll be right over  ;D

The fuel in the tank would nearly cover what you paid for it. ;D :y

I suppose it all depends on how much work/time and what it will sell for. I would rather keep a car on the road if its feasible but they just ain't worth what they used to be :'(

Well Pete, never thought I'd see the day that you would admit to being cheap in print  :o  ;D  ;D

Mind you, think most of use having seeing such a bargin, if we had the space we'd do the same as yourself.  ;)

Well it looks like its up north. Not too far from you I think  ;), so if you need any bits, it looks like a really nice car. :y ::)

Looks nice. Says 2.5 whereas I thought all Facelifts were 2.6. Obviously not.

Nope, facelift did have same engines as mini-facelift at launch, 2.2 came in 2000, 2.6/3.2 DBW's were fitted in 2001 onwards

Seems like a bit of a sin to me....  :'(

There was a thing on Countryfile last night how there's been a spate of Landrover Defenders getting stolen from farms and then getting stripped for parts.  Seems the Defender is very easy to break as it's basically a big mechano set... :-/

Small mistake Tunnie.
2.2 engine was available since facelift was launched.
mine is October 1999.
