Terbert's non functional cruise control
« on: 03 April 2011, 20:26:05 »

Terbert, who had fitted a new ABS ECU a couple of weeks ago, and I had reprogrammed for correct engine, and cleared all the codes, came round today for me to look at his non functional cruise that hadn't worked since the ABS change.

For a bit of fun, and as a bit of a quiz, who fancies working out what the fault was?

The data input you thought to be correct - was not.

Live data was showing actual speed, so the cruise ECU was seeing the speed signal from ABS unit.

perhaps it was working fine and you were expecting an indicator to say it was turned on?

OK...I'll come clean......
Called round to TB's to let him check. Sets up Tech 2 and does preliminary's. 'Right, lets give it a burst up the A43' :y
So off we sets, out onto A43....runs up to 60ish, TB in control of Tech 2......'Ok....put it in cruise' says TB.
Nope nothing happens. TB checking Tech 2....'Try again'
Nope nothing happens. 'Errrr' says TB.....'not the stalk that side, this one on the left'
Ahhhhhh....cruise kicks in  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[Never been so embarrased :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Had a total mental block. I have been clicking the reset button like its going out of fashion. :-[ :-[ :-[

Even continued when I got back to my daughters place round the corner.
She said I should not be allowed out in public. She said 'Oh god, that chap (TB) doesn't know where we live does he...father, you are an embarasment'

Sorry, TB.....but thanks a million mate :y
