Meguiars clay detailing kit
« on: 18 May 2011, 14:29:32 »

I spent 6 hours yesterday cleaning my omega, I used meguiars clay detailing kit for the first time and have to say the results are amazing.

After claying it I used there ultimate deep compound then waxed it and she really has come up a treat. It isn't cheap but if your paint work has seen better days then give it a go. I polish my car regularly but it has never looked as good as it does now.

I have taken some pics so will try and upload later.

my neighbour gave me a kit last year - he keeps his cars too new / clean to need it  ;D

VERY impressed at what it takes off

..yep - I use it regularly on mine too (clay about every 6 months) - but the detailing spray is great to finish off a quick wash just to keep that shine on it between waxes...

It is amazing how much crap the clay lifts off the paint even after what seems a really good wash. Dont forget though if you use the clay you need to then use a polish then wax it as well.

The paint is easier to polish after you have clayed it as well due to the surface being so much smoother and the finish is swirl free and like glass.

Meguiars web site gives some good advice as to which stuff is best for the condition of your paint work, they also have a youtube page which is useful and has alot of demos.

The one other thing I would say is set aside a Sunday to do it, you only begin to realise how big an omega is when you begin polishing it.

I have the meguires clay bar kit.  :y , learned the two bucket method, and use autoglym polish. Some of the swirls are gone but there's still some heavy circles left in, ESP the bonet. I presume a more aggressive polish is needed?  :-/
