Hard to remember the last time I saw one of those on the road! Prices v.surprising!!

I have a degree of nostalgia for them - my Dad (who only had a bike licence), had a '65 Regal Saloon as his first car - it was crap, but it was fairly reliable crap (reliable at turning over, anyway - Dad did it at least three times ;D). Undeterred, he went on and bought a '70 Regal Supervan (the Del Boy motor) afterwards, then, strangely, he was sent a full licence by the DVLA by mistake when renewing his bike licence! To this day, my Dad has never taken or passed a car test  :)

The basic layout has changed not a jot since '65 - the interior is very recognisable, and the engine is still the same old wheezy 848cc unit  :) Amazing that a minter with very low miles can command £6K!

I think you'll find the Regal was an even wheezier 700cc.  My first car was 1970 Regal Supervan (but a top-of-the-range 21E!).

My neighbour used to have his on it's side frequently, he used to say "why jack it up and roll around underneath when you can just pop it on its side"  :)

You got me thinking, Jimac!
Just checked out Wikipedia - Dad's '65 model was a 3/25, which apparently had Reliant's own OHV 600cc unit. 701cc engines (from the Rebel) were fitted to post '68 Regals...

Yeah, that's right.  I knew that the earlier ones were 600cc but I couldn't remember when they were replaced with the 700.

Actually, the 700cc wasn't too bad at the time.  Due to the light weight it could easily out-accelerate 850cc Minis but it did run out of steam over about 75mph.

And being a van there was a lot more useful space in the back than a Mini for "entertaining" the ladies!

And just how many ladies did you ever entice into the back of a plastic three-wheeler!?!
Says a lot for your charm and powers of persuasion, mate!

In the early '70s, you were automatically attractive if you had any kind of car!
