evenin all, not been on for a while but just thought id pop in....
have just recently moved house and had gone about the usual way of letting my insurance company know of the change of address..
i expected it to rise slightly as it is a well known fact that such companies have decided to increase their premiums by quite a substancial percentage. what i wasn't prepared for was by how much !!
i have a 2000 model cdx 2.5 saloon. my last address which was an OL2 postcode (Shaw, Oldham) had set me back - well actually it is in my wifes name, so theoretically speaking its set her back, £520 fully comp for 2 of us on the policy. both with 20+yrs drivin an me nearly hittin the big 40..
Our new postcode of OL9, which is Chadderton, Oldham - 6 miles away has increased the premium by £975, i repeat, an increase of £975, taking the total cost of the policy to a nice round sum of £1550 and small change!!!!!
fortunately for us we had just landed on the last day of the cooling off period of a new policy. needless to say, they got told where to go in a rather polite manner, if you get my drift!
with only working 2 miles away from work and my wife only a 15 min bus ride from her place of work the car has now been parked on the driveway and an SORN has been applied for. The justification from the ins company, which by the way was 1 which has several pink dressed women singing on it, was that it was down to the last 3 letters of the postcode. personally i think this is a crock of s**t. i have tried some other sites that offer comparrisons and the cheapest i can get is £860 fully comp - still £68 per mth, which i think is extorsionate to say that my annual mileage has dropped from 6000 to roughly 3000..
Anyway, just thought i would share that with you
