does the car start and run?

if so there is no problem and it is an old code (that doesnt autodelete)
probably caused by the car sensing another transponder instead of the real one at some point. (2 car keys on your keyring?)

on omegas the EML Flashes to indicate the immobiliser is stopping the car starting.

I think this is a red herring, and an old code.

immobliser ECU is quite slow, I would expect the car to start turning over before it cut in.

So I gather the car does run eventually?

yeah it starts eventually after turning on and off repeatedly all of a sudden it fires up and the car and spanner light stops flashing,it wil then start all day long no prob. Just have problems overnight when its been stood .

Ahhh could well be immob then if its flashing.

checking out the transponder ring around the ignition barrel is probably your best starting point.

do you have 2 keys?  do the car behave the same on them both?

also, what is the battery voltage 1st thing in the morning?

i only have the 1 key battery is fine is was brand new a week ago if i changed the transponder would this have to be coded to the ecu and chip in key,iam a bit dumb when it comes to things like this and dont want to keep changing things on the off chance as battery cost me £50 last wk and didnt make difference nxt morn. Ive been told it could be a bad earth? And that could be throwing up fault codes ,is this a posability as it does start when using jump leads? Totally baffled

Highlighted facts really do point to a voltage problem.....
A jump would otherwise have no impact on an immobiliser problem

do the battery terminals / cables get warm?  Starting to sound like a bad connection etc.

yes, transponders do need programming to the car with tech2.

(btw is this a vectra B or C?)

Check inside the key that the transponder chip is correctly seated in its little slot. I had a problem with the old 2.5 when the chip was loose and kept moving inside the key .. sometimes in the right place .. others not.. when not it would not start.... a dab of superglue solved the problems ... :)

have a check of the leads when running, warm indicates high resistance / bad connection.

as you have vectra C, its Tech2, with CANDI interface to talk to your car.

not sure it will really narrow anything down much further  :-/

done some research at garages and breakers yards apparently it is the ecu thats breaking down and its a very common fault on the 1.8 petrol and if i change ecu, transponder and key all from same car it wil be right. I wil be checking terminals ect in morn when it doesnt start again just incase. Cheers for your help il let u know the outcome

Er.....a bit daft to go rushing in chnaging bits before any diag is done!

The pedal test may well work and show fault codes

how do u do pedel trick on the vectra? It has been read this morn and came bk with the imobiliser fault but i cant find any1 near me that has decent diagnostic machine to look at the fault in more depth. Battery terminals feel luke warm but maybe that just heat from engine? I know it silly to change things this way but iam clutching at straws at the moment as it can take anything from 5 mins to half hr to start it after its stood overnight.
