So what do we fit? No name copies that last from 6 to 18 months on the front bush, for example.

How long does the rear bush last on those after the fronts are pollyed? Not as long as as lemforder either.

As I've said before... The first cheap set I fitted did about 18 months (35k) before I changed them and they would still have passed an MOT at that point. The rear bush on them was still perfect.

The second set were starting to tire after 10k, but again it was only the front bush ;)

Well until we have a comparison on rear bush life.... :-/

Where were the failed lemforders purchased?

It would seem that the quality has gone downhill, and whilst not a fault of AllGerman selling the Lemforder wishbones, after all they're only the suppliers, it is though now worrying that some of us (OOF's) don't have confidence in buying from AG, as it was once the place where we could be confident in purchasing good quality parts for the money, what with VX being a rip off!  Quite a turnaround from over 12-18mths ago :-?

I was going to get a pair from AG, though now having read this before I put my order in, I'm glad I did read this and I'm not so sure now where to go now.  :-/.

I know there was a thread on here that said that those WB's of ebay were of poor quality as they were not welded well and some of the strengthening parts on the WB were dubious?

Possibly the only way to get value for money and quality is to go the Lemforder one's and re-bush them with Poly's before putting them on the car or unless you happen to get your hands on some genuine VX WB's and get them re-bushed?

But then there is another issue, as there has been lots of talk where the best place is to get a set of genuine Poly bushes at a good price?

Seems that we're stuffed either way to me  :-?

Cheaper items and poly bush them before fitting, works out cheaper than lemforders and gets round the issues.

And when the rear bush does give up you can probably get away with reusing the poly at least once :-/

I plan to keep my original VX wishbones when I change them for MOT.

I read about wheel balance issues with Poly bushes. What issues please ?

I plan to rebush the original wishbone. Does anyone here have the equipment and knowledge to press the bushes please ?

I have the drifts but, the press I use has been broken (although may well be fixed in the next month or so).

Its not a case of the wishbone bushes causing a balance issue but, they will show up more any out of balance faults on the tyres (e.g. how good or bad they have been setup)

Hi all,
just a quick response to an email I had regarding this thread. To clarify then that all Lemforder items have a two year warranty. We have sold many, many of these control arms and I believe we only had one return-not because of bush wear or noise etc but because there had been a bush or sleeve omitted during manufacture. Regarding whether Lemforder supply the same product for the aftermarket as they do for the car makers production line-yes they do. We frequently get products with a VAG or BMW logo machined off and you can clearly make out what was under the machining. One of our large competitors has a flight case for presentation purposes from Lemforder which has a ball joint with the Lemforder logo and the BMW logo on and another of the same part with just the Lemforder logo, and another from GM and another from Audi displaying that it's the same item. Lemforder is fitted as Original Equipment on 40% of cars currently produced worldwide-that's no coincidence. Fact is we just dont get Lemforder back-honestly it dosent happen. We recently had a guy request some shock absorbers in a particular brand that's got a buzz on presently-I suggested that he buy Sachs which is the same company as Lemforder but he had already bought the rears in the other brand so I got them for him. He called me two months later to tell me that he had been reversing his car on to his drive when he heard a loud bang. This was when the poorly welded shock absorber bracket had fallen off. This resulted in a five hundred pound warranty claim for this manufacturer and my customer fitting the Sachs item. This just dosent happen with parts from the ZF Group. (ZF stands for Zepellin Foundation by the way-just in case anyone was wondering). In a nutshell I dont think anyone needs any doubts over the Quality of Lemforder. We have sold Lemforder for more than 25 years and plan on doing it for the next 25! Last point then -it's worth noting that one of the biggest suppliers in the UK( not the best tho') have now started making much a do about the fact that they just bought loads of Lemforder stock-I wonder why that is..
best regards to you all as always

It seems to be that you are lucky to get 2yrs from any Omega wishbone bush (non poly), whoever the manufacturer.

IMHO, Lemforder are a better quality part than all the other junk out there.  *BUT* are they worth the extra money is the question.

Jason at AGP suggests no returns. I don't dispute or disbelieve that for one second. But I wonder how many have failed in warranty, and people just replace anyway, as the hassle of removing, sending back, waiting for decision, then new part sent out is just too long to be with the front of the car in the air, undrivable  :-/

It seems there is a discrepency between what the suppliers see, and what us Omega owners see  :-/

Now, on those crappy Audi A4 front setups, Lemforder is the only sensible option, and all I would recommend for that task.

So what is the process for warranty with AGP?
