Bad Friday Evening.
« on: 06 August 2011, 21:31:22 »

My mate came over and replaced a drop link bar on my Focus Estate and while he was here suggested changing the spark plugs to save me doing it the next day as I had planned on servicing the Omega today but weather and time stopped me.

But got a nasty surprise!  >:( Pulled the coil pack out and found it was dripping lots of oil.

Then looked in where the spark plugs were and found a lot of oil above the spark plugs, anyway, I have realized that the Rocker Gasket has had an EPIC fail as it is also leaking by the manifold.

So we changed the plugs anyway, and obviously it let all the oil into the cylinders. Cleaned the ecess oil out of the spark plug area and cleaned the coil pack up and put it back together knowing what was going to happen next when the car started.  ;D ;D ;D

I completely filled my road with smoke for about 10 minutes. But until Monday I can't do anything but am going to phone Vauxhall to get a price for everything I need. But the car isn't smoking as bad now. Only a tiny bit but that is only cos I have not taken it for a run yet. Sort of avoiding using it until I have got the Rocker Gasket sorted.

The Oil In My Engine.

My car about 3 minutes after starting it.

The road 10 minutes after starting the car  ;D ;D ;D

The car after about 7 minutes of running lol

But I Still Love My Omega lol.

Not looking forward to the price of the Rockergasket set.

90528438 / O-ring gaskets x 10
55558349 / Cam Cover Gasket x 1
 90485251 / Black Cam cover sealant x 1
Shouldn`t cost no more than about £25, and make sure the sealant they give you is black not grey

Looks like you can clear your throat with a decent pint just over the road though!

So you did that with the NEW plugs?  It hardly seems worth buying them.

Surely a bit of rag down each hole to soak up at least some of the oil would have been worth a go?

The problem I had with that was it was too late, we undone all the spark plugs before taking them all out and the oil and had already got through  ::)
So it was too late by the time we realised, I did clean out all the excess after the majority had gone through  ;D ;D ;D

I will clean all the spark plugs up once I have got the rocker gasket set and the O rings etc...

But I will say this, The guy I got this from KNEW ABOUT THE ROCKER GASKET as the spark plugs I took out apart from the oil on them were quite new  :-? :( :o ::)

Never mind. Was fun creating the smoke though  ;D ;D ;D

I wish  ;D  It has been an expensive few months with my cars  ::) My Ford Focus has had to have some work done to it, and the Omega so far has had to have the most, Last month it was MOT for Omega which she sailed through  :)  Then this month it is Tax month for the Omega, plus I have bought oil, spark plugs, sump plug, oil filter, Gearbox oil, and now having to buy Rocker gasket stuff  :'(  I can't afford the luxury of a pint  ;D ;D ;D ;D
