I've got ants in the cavity walls, and have had to put sellotape along the edge of the carpet to stop the little b*gg**s getting into the house.

There is a white powder stuff you can buy B&Q, that you can put down I had them getting in the house, they were coming from outside, put the stuff down and never had any problems since, probably need to find out where they are going in and coming out of the wall :y

Being an organic gardener (quiet in the cheap seats!) there are lots of great ways to kill bugs without chemicals.  Agreed they arent as fast but just as effective, try these:

ants - semolina powder (the workers take it back for the queen and she cant digest it.  Eventually she goes pop and the nest dies naturally... ahh!
Slugs - beer in a container, drown those f****rs
mice/rats - orange peel.  They hate the stuff!
cats & feathered birds - .22 just about does it!

 ::) ::) ;D
:oGreen killing sounds more inhumane than chemicals!!! Imaginative though. ;D ;D ;D

You could try a product called 'nipon' AA.....its a clear sorta gel......you bung it on a piece of card or summat.....and i think that the ants take that away to the queen....which quickly brings on her demise  :y

Nippon used to be the dogs however I think that ants have now built up an immunity to it. I work in the food industry so pest control is very important I used to use nippon for ants until about ten years ago,when I noticed that it wasn't as effective as it was in the past.
