I CANNOT BELIEVE... that I was so poor back then, I actually did this!!

And what was I thinking - some thick steel and rivets would have been much better ;D ;D

In the early seventies I bought a Morris 1000 with 12 months MOT (with the 803 engine and semaphores) with a CHASSIS repair like this except it was a Duckhams oil can and then the good area and the repair was all coated in underseal and dirt. It only came to light when I installed the much more powerful (?) 1000 cc engine and the offside developed a huge amount of negative camber.

Oh happy times,

I would do it much better next time. A good thick bit of steel, and strong rivets is the way to
go.....

I have a rivet kit.

Thrown out all the choccie tins from xmas. Would a tuperware lid be ok? It's microwave proof.

Needs to be a lot stronger. I have a good sheet of steel I would use.

To be honest though, if the car is a goodun.. get a new exhaust section :y

It's only a pinhole so bandage and gum should hold good for a while. Off to do that now.
