dangerous driving in socks! hope you never have to perform an emergency stop!  >:(

lol ???????? you need shoes to an emergency stop.??? erm no!

Feel on the clutch yes, but stamp on the brake at 70mph with socks is feking dangerous! You don't have the same braking force as you do with shoes.

Thats why its illegal!

Since when??? why do rally drivers wear little more that ballet shoes? like driving in bare feet..... ::) ::)

Sorry, Tunster, I have to disagree, no issues with hard braking (planned or emergency) in bare feet ::).  As others say, I reckon more feel as well.

But I have had a feeling off from plod for doing it, never asked him the actual reasoning, as I was happy to be gone without the speeding ticket I deserved ::)

Have a proper prang, there are plenty of other thinks to make you look a prink than a pair of wet socks, including longer skidmarks than that laid on the carriageway ;D

Been called much worse ;D

Shoes/boots/barefoot doesn't affect braking power. Modern servo assisted cars dont even require braking effort TBH ;)

BTW, I'm not for one second suggesting that driving without footwear is recommended. But it would be hypocritical for me to say don't do it  :-X

Whats in a footwell? Small stones, crap from the drive, all sorts. All you need is one little sharp stone either on your sock or on the pedal, you jam you foot on that, you will instinctively release pressure.

Sorry, but your driving a car that can easily kill. Your not sitting on the sofa with your feet up watching crapenders.

Appropriate footwear is required to drive!

If you were hit by a car, and he got out wearing socks, bet you would not be best pleased!

Know what a Hoover is? It's that thing you push around your flat when you can't remember if the floor is carpet or wood ;D

Well, it works in cars as well. So she tells me ::)

I'm not saying it's right (or wrong), just saying that I couldn't be upset with others for doing something I have done myself on several occasions.
