Broke it!  Well part of it anyway, the LPG system is kaput!  :'(  I had to drive 125 miles home on petrol!!  :o  >:(

I drove through some very Welsh weather today and I suspect some of the electrics got a good soaking.  :-\
Should have fixed your wiring properly... ::)

Not to say I told you so :P

Nah nothing to do with that.  ::)  I think the vapourisor got a soaking when I drove through a lake.....  :-\

Oil & Filter change, and egr and boost sensor clean (neither really needed it, but handy preventative.)

Reduced one of the fleet to a few boxes of parts, ready for it to take its last trip on Saturday.

Heartbroken, but its the sensible decision...

Humbug, the Omega will be one of a handful of things, all easily sorted, whereas the Jag will always be an expensive worry...

Well story so far is that I took the Jags battery to where car was, sold Jag and set off back home. This is a approx. a 5 mile round trip, about a mile from home little red warning light[looks like a thermometer with wavy lines at bottom]lit up and temp gauge needle made a bid for freedom at the red end of gauge. No warning everything going fine then that happened,No message on computer wotsit screen about low coolant or anything engine still running fine[no signs of labouring or anything]Rad fans didn't kick in,hoses felt only warm not red hot.Mood I was in at time if breakers yard had still been open that's where it'd be now!

If the aux belt is intact, then most likely the gauge sender wire has come adrift and is touching something it shouldn't...

Gauge works of its own sender on the coolant bridge and the warning light is triggered by the gauge :y

Can only hope it's summat as simple as that.Going to check header tank this morning before leaving for work, then I'll know whether to buy some cheap anti-freeze to run it on while I look for leaks or whether to check such as sender etc.Should imagine aux belt intact as no other warning lights lit up [battery charging light for instance]

If it loses that much coolant the gauge will run relatively cold as eventually the level would drop to the point that the sensor doesn't get wet...

Before driving it, let it idle until hot and make a note of when the fans kick in :y aircon off for this test as it makes the front fans run constantly, which will keep the rad artificially cold in this weather.

Just refitted heat shields to the Special. Only had to drill and tap one fresh bolt hole. Healthy splash of copper grease on them all... Quite pleased.

Also turn out the box of drill bits that MrsGK brought with her when she moved in are much better than mine... Sharper than a sharp thing!

Thermostat not operational.so coolant in block gets boiled, rest of coolant gets a bit warm via bleed hole,in stat, or heater bypass circuit.

Now the bloody thing has gone tail happy*, and I think I need some new pads judging by its inability to stop repeatedly.

* Don't think its actually stepping out, and not TC intervention, so suspect subframe bushes either failed of shifted...
