I reckon the Omega might just fall apart first :D

Dunno... Maybe we should open a book?  :-\                                                         ;D

Anyway what are you doing on here?  ???

You should be in a sweaty bar chasing Polish totty!  ::)  ;D
Stocking up on carbs and protein in anticipation. Typing only requires one finger which leaves a whole hand to hold the fork  :D
I’m sat at snowhill scoffing fruit pastels with one hand, prodding the phone with the other.  That counts as multitasking

You don't want to carrying too much body heat to begin with if you are going to be doing anything vigorous later on tonight. :)

Drove the RRS over to Boston to look at a SVR Range Rover I'd seen on the internet ,took it out on a test drive & after about 5 minutes had a suspension fault light come on so returned to the dealership & drove mine home..😄

Swapped some yellow headlights onto the retired daily so I can keep the refurbished ones as spares for the other two!

If you're binning it and they work, it may be worth removing as much as possible beforehand, especially if you are planning on keeping the other two for some time :-\

Well i've slimmed down from three sheds and a loft full of parts  ;D

Just keeping bits that I feel will most likely be useful in the future on the remaining two... so things like levelling sensors, the headlights I refurbished a while back as they have aluminium adjusters, wheels and tyres are OK so they've been swapped for another set etc etc.

The car will be taking a trip East and hopefully will donate some other parts to other Omegas.  :y

I was thinking rear quarters (inner and outer), boot floor, rear panel, slam panel, crash bars etc.

I was thinking rear quarters (inner and outer), boot floor, rear panel, slam panel, crash bars etc.

The project car has had new metal introduced to the rear arches and undersealed and the other car has been undersealed (all trims off etc) by Rustbusters a few years ago so hopefully that's well protected. Boot floors, spare wheel well and shock absorber mount points are solid in both cars and i've got front and rear crash bars in stock  :D from previous cars i've broken so got those issues covered!  :y

Sorting through all the bits i've piled up over the years it's obvious that some parts aren't worth keeping and others are but that is changing as some parts become unavailable. I could be rich LOL

Adjusted the bonnet cable, as the fact it was a game of chance if it would open or not was getting on my tits.
Then topped the coolant up as the header tank was almost empty. Almost certainly due to the used drain plug I fitted a while back, complete with O ring that looked about the right size.
I really must invest in a new drain plug, if they are still available.  ::)

Why? The only realistic way to keep all of that is if you cut the whole back of the car off in the rear door shuts. Removing the quarters or rear panel from the boot floor effectively means sacrificing one of them. The only reason I can see for keeping any of that it is to repair crash damage. And who is going to do that to an Omega these days?

It's just a load of work to get a bulky pile of bits you're never going to use.

Much the same applies to all the other junk that's often suggested you keep just in case: just because you can, doesn't mean it's worth doing. And there is absolutely no point in keeping parts that are readily available new, so brakes, wishbones, struts etc should stay on the scrapper and keep it rolling.

I say this having done it all in the past, and it's a huge waste of time, effort and money. Keeping this stuff is expensive, especially when you eventually chuck it away after 10 years....

I would walk around the donor and keepers and swap the best bits over, like the lights mentioned. But the worse parts would go in the Omega shaped bin.

Nick,...  I agree, but, if you have a thousand spares and you slim down and Chuck just one of them away it seems to always be the part you needed the most☹️😂👍

If one of the keepers gets smacked, it's those panels you can't get...

I think if I had the space and storage (Like a barn!) i'd park it up and leave it to pick bits off as and when required. The problem with breaking cars for 'useful' parts is that the parts take up more space than the whole car!

The problem with the above theory is if that had been the case there would now be three Omega's, an Alhambra, a Corsa and an IS200 parked up in the barn  ;D

That has never happened to me. But I have spent hours searching through piles of festering crap muttering It's here somewhere, my precious only to find that my precious is actually my disappointment because it's even worse than the knackered part on the car.
