So, the car failed its very first MOT and then passed an hour later. What was the point in that?  ::)

Another fail on their record to offset a few postal MOTs and make their pass rate look plausible?
Headlight beam out of adjustment is the favourite for that.

Took the Petrol Blue 3.2 saloon for its MOT this morning, which it passed with no advisories :y
Should do really after all that has been done to it this last year; replacement struts, mountings and all the hardware,  new front wishbones, discs and pads - all GM, with a known good used front caliper and GM rear s/l spring.
Commented about how solid it was, followed by 'but your exhaust looks like its' next on the list'. In fairness, it is looking very crusty, although not blowing (yet!)
But a well deserved pass :y

Changed the reduction gear oil on the milk float, as there was no positive record of it being changed. Only "Major service" stamped in the book, which could mean anything or next to nothing.
Apparently its an important job on these, so for the sake of £25 and an hour of my time, half of which was removing / replacing the under tray, it was worth doing.
Also gave it a good coat of Bilthamber rust treatment all over the front subframe as it had quite a lot of surface rust on it.
Might treat it to a wash after lunch, or then again I might fall asleep on the sofa.  :D

Im gearing myself up to start into the list of jobs I want to get done on the Omega over the summer. They dont like being ignored for too long.  ::)

Had a kip on the sofa, then washed the milk float. Omega looked grubby beside it so washed that too.
Going to have another nap now.  ;D

Gear oil isn't on the service schedule of pretty much any milk float (much like modern ICE car gearbox oils), so very much doubt anyone has done it before. Worth doing on age alone for a Gen 1 leaf, but out of interest how many miles has it done?

Its done 121000 miles.
I also suspect it hasnt been done before, so Im glad I changed it. Apparently it can cause serious problems on these if ignored.
It seemed quieter and smoother when I drove it afterwards, but that could well be wishful thinking on my part.

Not really sure I understand the purpose of this topic but let's try.

Today I bought a white 91' Vectra GT 20SEH, basically an SRI Cavalier for my fellow british guys :y

I removed rear bumper and the shell is as crusty as a bag of Tyrrells chips :D The poor car spent its life by the sea in Corsica, and every bit of steel uncovered by paint is literally orange. The rust also comes out from under the paint by very small circles of 1 or 2mm, like bubbles. I'm still not sure I'll keep the shell, because the engine is so great on the other hand :-\

I was in search of this particular car because it's the car from my childhood and it's been years I was looking for one, but so rare in France.
Funny thing, it was red, the same as Lewis father 8) ;D

Last Saturday(18th) took the V70 to Rustival car show at the British Motor Museum Gaydon. Unfortunately on the way there the abs light came on. I do have a vida/dice diagnostic unit for Volvos however on coupling it up to the car that decided to come up with the message "root element missing" ( whatever that means) so although I can access the entire list of dtc's and the parts list/part numbers it won't let me run diagnostics ;(  One of my grandaughters is busy researching what could be wrong and how to rectify the problem so far without success but still trying.

When the ABS light came on on my old 2004 V70 it turned out that the FOS reluctor ring had split.

Is it still running on the original PP9?

Sounds like the tool has corrupted memory.

Does it have an SD card to hold it's storage/program on?  If so, look if there is a Windows tool available, usually for updates, that can download a fresh copy.
