Waved the Galaxy off to the finance company on Fri, with no additional liability coming my way.

Then collected its replacement - I will shortly be posting a idiotty Dr Opti style 'guess my new car' thread.

Bring it on... >:D

Fitted a new (to me) door mirror as the folding mechanism had given up the ghost. Normal service has resumed!  :y

It took 12 days to get here from Essex though!  :(  Posted on Monday 12th, disappeared into the bowels of Inpost's Yeovil depot on Wednesday 14th and finally appeared on my doorstep sometime yesterday. Apparently they had a shortage of drivers.  ::)

Less benefits for fit and able people will solve the problem. ::)

Controversially fixed that for you M'Lud!   >:D

Got the V70 straight through MoT although there were some advisories a couple of which have been advisories for last two years! I just don't do the mileage anymore to make things much worse from one year to the next.

Collected The Trolley 2.

A 2009 A150 3 door with a mere 92k on it.

Has all the cosmetic benefits of a £700 car, but it is MoTd until April and is fundamentally sound.

Another year’s MOT on the Omega this morning. Always a relief, since I tend to worry about it a bit.

24 years old in a couple of weeks. Car, not me.  :)

Nice one,  it's always a relief when they pass.  :y  Like you, I can't settle until I know the outcome. As I don't wait at the garage while it's being MOT'd, I start looking on the Vehicle Check website after around fifty five minutes after my appointment time and keep refreshing the page until it updates.  ::)  I've been caught out a few times though, when they've phoned me before the website is updated.  ::) :)

Tell me something mate: my last MOT ran until the end of September. If it had failed today, does that remaining period of certification become void?? Always wondered.

Just checked and the MOT status hasn’t updated yet. My road tax renewal has. Did that yesterday to get it in with a valid cert.

If it had failed today but still had several weeks before the current  MOT expired, you would still be legal until your current MOT expires. This really applies to minor fails, and anything major should obviously be addressed immediately. But to answer your question, yes you would still be legal until your current MOT expires. It's actually on the .gov site, so it isn't just my interpretation of it.  :y

........

If you scroll down to "Driving a vehicle that's failed" it shows the restrictions.  :y  It would be legal until the current MOT expired, assuming no 'dangerous' faults were listed.  :y

My understanding (read into this a couple of weeks ago) Is you are legal to drive using the good MOT you have left, unless a Dangerous Defect (repair at place of fail, or trailer away) is found.
The whole system supports this, as you can get the 13 month MOT, otherwise it would be 12 month from test date every time.

The awkward / grey bit, your insurance requires a roadworthy vehicle, there is now a paper trail stating your vehicle isn't roadworthy, so in the event of a claim, they can use that to not pay out.  Its one you would have to be prepared to argue I think, depending on the failure / claim.  Number plate bulb being out wont stop you hitting the car in front etc.

Thanks guys. I am wiser now.
I always get booked in as early as possible whilst still preserving the renewal date, in case any repairs are needed.

Started trying to get to grips with the handbook that came with the AygoX, for a little car it has a lot of features thankfully the majority of them I'll never use, first manual car I've owned since the Omega so that's well over 12 years, quite nippy for a 998cc three cylinder engine averaging 62mpg so saving an absolute fortune for the moment, never ever considered a little motor like this but I really quite like it.

Come now Mr Rangie.  You know blokes can't read instructions ;D

I should have paid more attention to the Doris who handed my the keys to a hire car I currently have, as she did explain the lights, but I wasn't paying attention....     ....then last night when it was dark, it took me a minute of so to work out how to do it, lol.

.

I don't have to worry about lights they all work automatically,  the only thing I think is ridiculous is that there's no temperature gauge just a light that allegedly springs into life if the car is overheating, crazy idea.

Likewise her Citroen C3 ..... by the time the light comes on it's already over heated.

It's not uncommon these days for there not to be a temp gauge  :-\
