Been gradually going through the Trolley2.

New wing fitted, cruise control fitted, and soft touch shite removed from the trim and replaced with paint.

Might not end up being a cosmetic improvement, but at least it won't be sticky...

Need it to stop drizzling before I can carry on hoovering the interior.

I had this on the bmw's. It was handy when I was at work on night shift for checking that my wife had actually locked the car in our driveway, as she often forgets to after unloading shopping.    We could also remotely flash the headlights to make finding the car easier in a dark car park etc. If you got totally lost when trying to remember where you'd parked, you could get the car (via control centre) to send its gps location to your phone and it would open it on Google maps. 
The life saver though with bmw connected drive, is the crash detection sensors. If the sensors detect a severe impact, the control centre monitors the vehicle for an outgoing call. If no outgoing call is detected, they phone the car (via its sim, as they have SOS function built in as well). If you don't answer, they'll trigger an emergency call, stating your exact gps location. This function must have saved many drivers, especially if they've crashed hidden from view of the road. As you say, there's some clever technology about.

Yes very clever indeed,the AygoX has the SOS button & the crash detection, for a little runabout at a reasonable price I can't fault it apart from having no temperature gauge.

Hers is a manual, so remote start is disabled, but even without that it is handy enough to warrant the subscription cost.

Also very handy for looking up previous journeys, for that that have to expense trips.

Yes that's another thing on the app journey time & mileage, even gives you a driving score out of 100 my best so far is 92 that was in the Yaris Cross  though in the AygoX so far best is 87 so room for improvement..😂

You are fortunate it didn't disable start, as most eCall systems are also theft trackers so carry out a start handshake when you press the go button

Happened on my 5 series, if it's the same sort of setup as BMW's there's a small rechargeable battery to power it in the event of a battery cut off (Pyro on BMW's), it was located in the boot on top of the rear arch, others I think are in the centre console of the headlining. Unit fine, just battery no longer holding charge.

IIRC the Omega Telematics unit was triggered to dial the international emergency number on activation of the airbags.... I never wired in the trigger lead on the one I installed.

I'll be taking the car elsewhere next year for service so maybe they'll know where it is. There are various suggested 'resets' on the web ...

That is standard EU eCall functionality which has been mandatory on new car 'types' (so new models, not model year changes) since 2018, the NG (Next  Generation) eCall standard (2028) will force the latest eCall functionality on ALL new cars (not just new car types)

The standard has two levels of warning, an SoS Limited Availability (where say the backup battery or maybe an antenna is not working, so it still works but maybe not to the full scope of the standard) and SoS Unavailable (where it simply does not work at all).

Wording will differ a bit by manufacturer
