Bloody lawn mower giving me trouble today, started fine but ran smokey and died. Removed float chamber, checked the  nut thing was clear. Reassemble  and start, ran then died straight away.

Not been run in months, suspect water in the fuel or clogged carb.  :-\

I'm told that forecourt fuels have some sort  of bio additive in which corrodes the ally drillings/jet seats in mowers, affected my newish Honda mower, and now use only Shell super which is apparently better, and cheaper than the mower type specific fuels. :y

Thanks.  :)

It's only ever had standard unleaded, it's a very old 1989/1990 Brigs & Stratton XM 35 on a Flymo body. Need to strip it down again.

Fuel left in the carb & tank for months will solidify and block jets etc.
clean everything out with carb cleaner.  :y

Ethanol in fuels these days is not good for ali parts like small carbs. Some of the super unleaded has loads of it in, mind. (Tesco in particular).

My mower gets Optimax or whatever the Shell super is called these days. Only because that's what I put in the Westfield and whenever the mower runs out I syphon a little out. ;D

I believe new mower carbs are now made out of some type of plastic to avoid these problems. :y

Until you run over the cable ;D Or, like me, move somewhere that then requires the use of a cable twice as long.. :(

Took the Mondeo for a service, got given an Insignia for a loaner

Havent had a call to say the Mondeo is ready, so they either haven't done it yet or they found they need to order parts for it....either way I want my Mondeo back....having driven the insignia about all day I don't really like it.

Not sure which model it is....but its a 2.0L I think, might be a 1.9L I guess, but certainly uses more fuel than my 1.6 Mondeo
Electric handbrake which I had on my Passat and eventually grew to hate it
Stop/Start on it , but unlike my Mondeo, restarts the engine after 5 mins

Its not as easy to drive as my Mondeo....I want the Mondeo back!

Got my brand new genuine GM Track rod end arrived in the post, ex-dealer stock. £6.50, so that's not bad . In the box of bits it goes, for a rainy day  :)

Nothing. My knackered knee joint is giving serious jip now. Kept me awake last night. Fit for fackall today, despite having a lot to do.
Must get booked in for replacement, as its as overdue as a 100k Omega cambelt.  ::)

No that feeling very well  :(
I've ended up wearing a 6 quid Sports Direct knee support for the last week.
Works very well tbh  ;)
