I would estimate the two wheeled object which was impacted to weigh around 80kg all told, no air bag deployment........and one less bicycle on the road.

What's Guffer ever done to you? :o

Oh, hang on.. Did you say 80kg?....   ;)

So turning right off a major road into a side road, traffic light controlled, I have a green, side road has a red (3 cars waiting happily at the red).

Said cyclist exists side road, through red light right in front of me.

Stop car and get out, he's on the road groaning then gets up and moves to the pavement  (despite advice otherwise), clearly off his head on something.

Bike has no lights, he has no helmet, clearly has at least a dislocated finger and broken ankle/leg plus concussion.

Police arrive, statements given, refuses treatment and then tries to cycle home on bike with bent front wheel, bent front forks, bent frame, bent rear wheel and gets nowhere.

In the mean time I have to report it to the insurance company (obviously) and now face the fact that a claim will go on record and the car may be repaired (or written off).

Bloody nightmare.

Guffer will be along in a minute to tell you what a nasty man your for not offering the poor lad a lift home.  ;D

On a serious note, can you not be arrested for riding a bike under the influence?

You can, and people have.

If they weren't a total scrote (and looked like they were able to pay it) I'd be wanting their name and address to pay for damages to the car as well  >:(.

Wot he said, regardless of any misplaced sympathy you may feel for him, his failure to obey the Highway Code is an offence, and you should not suffer financially for his mistake. >:( >:( >:(

Info is with the insurance company although I doubt they will get anything given all income is probably disappearing into a vein as fast as it arrives.

It does leave me nicely out of pocket though and hugely inconvenienced,

So sorry to hear that. I hope things are, maybe, not as bad as they look.  :(

Caved the windscreen in, dented the bonnet, deformed the bumper and smashed the number plate......all in a nights work.
Repairable (DIY wise), if it does get written off?

I think I would have been tempted to repeatedly reverse and drive over the cyclist again. I admire your willpower.

Mr DTM, did your dashcam catch the happy sight of a cyclist coming through the screen?
