Just to add to the 'Green' debate on caravanning. If we agree that towing a caravan for say 200 miles returns say 20 mpg and not towing returns say 35 mpg then the extra fuel consumption is 4.29 gallons each way or 8.58 gallons on the round trip. Compare this to any form of international travel and it is not exactly gas guzzling.
If you then add into this equation that caravans normally operate on around about 10 amps for their total elctricity supply which is a fraction of an hotel what with it's unnecessary lighting, air-conditioning, heating etc. not to mention staff journeys to and from work, and suppliers, laundry energy consumption etc etc etc.
Caravanners rely on much less water due to the fact that, if you have to fetch it yourself and throw it away yourself you tend to be far more careful with how much you use. (Although, having said that I still have a shower every Sunday whether I smell or not).
Given the above issues, all of you polluters who don't caravan should hang your heads in shame. It is not the smelly army who are polluting the planet it is you.
