Lotus?!?  No.  Mercury Marine of all things IIRC.  Option pack doubled the price of the car.  Very serious machine, certainly for the time.  Counters any arguement that America couldn't build a real sports car.

Mercury built a Lotus designed quad cam V8 for GM - so this could be it.

Mercury is quite cool though :y
The power levels varied a lot in the first couple of years, but a very cool car.

As I said earlier, this is one clear exception.  I don't expect that it is light and chuckable, but I have been at track events where some attended and they are very capable in all areas.  The option pack was more than just the engine.
