Had my miggy in for fresh oil and filters and a quick run on a rolling road. The previous owner had a Dastek Unichip fitted (with bypass switch for more sedate moods.) I wanted find out what the real figures could be?

Without the chip 213BHP @ 5700RPM (impressive!) but with the chip an astonishing 236BHP @ 5700RPM. Both runs gave peak torque of 234lbs/ft @ 3500RPM.

I was present during the runs and also saw a couple of crazy Astras with artwork for engines that were pumping out over 300BHP and spitting flames on the overruns.

Nonetheless, I'm an even happier MV6 owner :y

Oh, with the Unichip enabled I also see a drop of about 5MPG - so occasional use methinks!

Sounds good that, a good bit of info for me.
So i know roughly what mine should be producing.
Especially as it looks like we have twins  ;D ;D

I am wondering what the ECU on your OMEGA has as far as programing.  My Catera has a similar unit but from what I understand the Chip wont fit certain ECUs

Can you post your ECU Codes/Numbers on the box so I an compare it to mine and see if it will fit on my US CATERA...

Happy to supply some info. I'll get some things together for the weekend and I'll try and I'll scan in the performance graph.

These are the makers of the chip, not sure if they still do them for any car. Worth a shot! http://www.dastek.co.uk/unichip.htm

Oh and sorry for my ignorance - I never even realised the miggy was a caddy in another life! Hehe, wait until I tell Mum I drive a caddy - she's a big Elvis fan of course...

Nice one RD :) Twins indeed - but I think yours is a tadge younger. Our miggy is an R reg, only 86500miles though :y
I see you are also still on the original Irmscher alloys. Have you experimented with tyre choice yet? The weakest link for ours is the tyres - some no-name Goodyear F1 replicas that I do not trust at all and due for replacement asap - although probably be in April just before the MOT. I'd love a set of F1's but a tad pricey if not a great match...

I will be showing this year at the pvs.
Just bought another set of mv6 alloys actually, last weekend off ebay.
There going in today to be blasted wth some product, which is softer than sand, supposed to be better. :D
So i will be after a full set of rubber in the near future, but i quite fancied the dunlop sp max, quoted £460 for a set from kwik fit.
I did read on another thread that whey are very good tyres for miggies.

I think the blasting is done with something like SODA BLAST, basically baking soda very similar to flower, its soft but under high pressure its abrasive enough to sand down thin paint etc...

I tried to do my calipers with that stuff and it took for ever... I just gave up on it, but its good on wheels, doesnt eat into the aluminium...


ON another not can somepne PLEASE EXPLAIN!  what these REG numbers are that I keep hearing about,  R reg, S reg, 53 reg.... i think it has something to do with the license plates but no idea what or why!....

Registration number plate.
Mines an S reg, 1998.
with our old style plates we used to use a letter, then a sequence of numbers, and 3 letters.
Ie "S123 ABC"
That would just tell you that the car was made in 1997/98.
Is that any clearer?
But now they have changed it, this year we'll have 09 & 59, car would be registered in march or october respectively.
