IE7 is most popular
« on: 20 July 2007, 21:45:10 »

Just going through the logs, it seems IE7 is the most popular browser amongst OOFers, with IE6 closely behind....

With the amount of hatred normally aimed at IE7, it seems the majority use it  ;D

No, not at all. Its a fine browser once you learn its interface.

Saying that, I still use IE6 on my XP machines  :-[

I used firefox for about 18 months and never thought I would change back to IE. Then I downloaded IE7 and haven't bothered to change back to Firefox. I guess that means that I prefer IE7 or I would still be using Firefox.

I have surprised myself.

tut tut tut!  Typical winpup response :P

Fully secure OS, no virus's, no spyware/malware, no rather intrusive licensing malarky annoying WGA checking.  Just a clean, fully optimised, fully customisable AND completely FREE OS for the win :)

IE 7 used to cause me probs.....until laptop topped itself....

Since rebuild and forcing SP2 on it......MS site tries to do 100 updates first b4 SP2....but if you ignore the updates and force SP2....then IE7 works well  :y

Actually, despite the fact that FF has more bugs than a Libyan coffee shop, I thought it would be more popular than it is here.

Also, note to the 95% of FF users not using current version - upgrade now! It is full of critical holes  >:(

Ah, a 'winpup', I wouldn't start that debate....

Unfortuantely, I work with Unix servers all day, every day, including Linux. Trust me, I know it very well ;). Too bloody well  >:(

Secure OS? Err, no.  Of all our internet facing Unix (or Windows come to that) servers, Linux is the one that gets compromised the most often.

No Viri? Err, no. There are viri out there, mostly in the lab, a few in the wild.  The evangelists shouting that Linux has no virus threat is one of Linux's biggest dangers, as nobody runs AV on it. Very dangerous.

Clean, optimised, customisable - all OSes are now, have been for years.

Free? Depends on your definition of free. Forgetting the argument about 'free as in beer' or whatever tosh he spouted, with a few exceptions, Linux is either incomplete, old, beta, or more expensive than Windows ;)

Nah, Windows, for the huge majority of people, is the best desktop.  For small workgroup servers, its probably the best server. Proper Unix is the best for big apps, leaving Linux in a bit of a niche market, covering mainly hobby and webhosting.

;) :y

Firefox for me. Gr8 addons and I never get a popup. It is also really easy to back up if you need a reinstall.
