Was minding my own business on my way to stafford down the lanes when i came across quiet a deep puddle stretching roughly 30ft long. I thought i'd give it ago and drive thro as i thought the 2.5td airboxes sit on top of the engine, which obviosly they do. However what i didnt realise was that there was a 3 inch air scoop / tube that runs from the bumper into the box.

So i got halfway thro and ofcourse the sh*t hit the fan. I managed to chug out and drive back home at a steady pace. Damage done, Sounds like i bent a valve.

Will my insurance company make it a right off if its only worth £1400 max? Im fully comp.

I cant see them paying for that to be repaired. I'm not even sure if you'd be insured for water sports :-/

I think STMO is right.  If the car was left and accidentaly flooded that's one thing but if you assessed the risk and purposely drove through it - I think you're liable.

Rang insurance company, i have to take it to a garage on monday for diagnosis to confirm even tho i allready know i have a bent pushrod. ive been told all repair work will be done with courtesy car, however i have 400 pound excess  :-/ so im contenplating wether or not to declare it a right off and then getting it back from the scrappy. Ill have to see what they say on monday

Oh i think so too.

Local breakdown firms are cashing in down here.....£150 callout fee.....then + mileage.

AA and RAC are taking around 12 hours to attend to non urgent breakdowns at the mo  

I was given a job today....Membury services to Bristol.....car was putting on all its warning lights apparently....but still ran....and they had driven thro some large puddles....so they phoned the AA at 6am from Membury services....11 hours later AA sent a local breeakdown firm out ( i was told another couple had been waiting 13hours   for a breakdown truck) . Reason i had been sent....the lady couldnt climb in to the cab of the breakdown truck.....i think if id been her old man i would have shoved her in  
Woulda saved him £60 in a cab fare
