UPDATE 1
Right, this morning I had an hour spare, so I got the engine ready to take out.
bagpies already off
timing belt cover already off
removed battery
removed header tank
removed scuttle
disconnected fuel pipes
disconnected throttle cables
disconnected servo pipe
disconnected rear multiram
removed breather pipes
removed plenum
syphoned off PAS reervoir
disconnected radiator hoses
disconnected gearbox oil cooler pipes from radiator
unplugged loom to raditaor/aircon wiring
removed radiator
disconnected aircon condenser union
removed fans
remnoved condenser
disconnected ECU
cut wiring looms for LPG ( again)
unplugged engine loom plugs
removed upper cable tray
removed earth bonding
diconnected PAS pump union & flexipipe
Spoke to old bloke across the road after he said 'Ooooh, having trouble' - he won't be speaking to me again! (long story, but I have had enough of his negative input thanks!)
Drilled out battery tray bolt which had sheared
disconnected HBV
removed plumbing for LPG
So, that is it so far. I now just have to drop the CATs off, break the propshaft off again, remove the old gearbox, remove the torque convertor, undo the engine mountings and out it comes. About an hour left of the strip down.
Then, new box, new engine and put everything back with a new water pump and cambelt kit. Hopefully it will be right this time. I am only doing this because I want the car right. It is worth a lot if I do it properly, so that is exactly what I am doing.
There is a
very vague possibility I may have another facelift Omega coming in, but I really don't fancy the job. Nothing too major, just a project that needs a bit of sorting.
