liklihood of slipped cam belt?
« on: 24 July 2007, 11:19:57 »

Just looking at the tool list for cambelt change. Says a tx50 if belt has slipped. Can I tell before starting if the belt has slipped?

I guess the best way to just check if its slipped is remove AUX belt then the cam cover rotate the engine by hand clockwise and see if the cam marks line up correctly.

There is a DVD for the V6 lumps on changing The Cam Belt I would recommend buying this its only acouple of quid. You will need to PM Robin Hood i think it is

tx50 good to have anyway.

Belt shouldn't have slipped.. just check the marks line up (with the timing gauge, not the camcover ;D )

Belt wont have slipped - youd know if it was much more than a tooth or so....cranking it round will also allow you to see from TDC if its accurate...are you tackling this on your own or is Broocie back :-/

On my own, depending an locking kit availability. I feel a lot more confident now. The bit I was most concerned about was the aux belt tensioner. Thats done now so bring it on  ;D

The belt won't have slipped, but the last belt may have been put on a tooth out etc...
