Project i260
« on: 06 July 2011, 23:06:18 »

So, the bits have been gathered / ordered and here is what will happen over the next few weeks:

MV6 Leather Recaro's (heated Elite rears to follow in a few weeks:

Steinmetz -30mm Springs

Bilstein B8 short stroke mono-tube shock absorbers

Powerflex Wishbone bushes into new Lemforders wishbones

Powerflex front ARB bushes (and replacement rear standard bushes)

Eibach front adjustable camber bolts

This is to go with the rear 35% tints:

The next dilemma is the choice of 17inch wheel - twin-spoke Irmscher / mv6, f/l ELite or f/l MV6... Whatever it has to be oem - yet to see a mig on other brands that looks acceptable and I don't want to get into stuffing spacers on vectra fitment 18's. Lets see what it looks like lowered on 16's first - I am sure the rear is alreay -30mm on the old shox!

Really needs the MV6 front bumper and a map to complete ... but at the end of the day it is the daily hack that spends its life on the motorway.

those seats look nice and tidy. are they mini facelifts? well done for finding a set in such good order. recaro made the elite seats too btw.

you mentioned the twin spoke mini facelift mv6 alloys as a possibility, well the newer vxr alloys for vectras and astras are very similar, just newer. might be worth considering if thats the look youre going for.  :y

I did have a set of 18 inch VXRs last year to fit but realised the offset was too small (ET45 ish?) and the tyres were also the wrong size at 225/40/18.

The 'proper mig alloys have some thing beterrn 33 and 37 - the reason I am interested in the twinspokes is they are ET33 so should look better on the lowered suspension - another 5mm further out than the later wheels!

Considering a smoked chrome refurb of some original MV6 wheels - also the 17's may help keep a little ride quality!!! The facelift elite rime are growing on me though, possibly with a titanium / smoke refurb??? They must be SO heavy though?

Yes, the seats are decent, especially when you consider that coming out of a y2k model they are 11 years old! A few marks here and there - they were filthy when I bought them - muddy dust all over so a hoover, loads of glyptone cleaner and some simonix feed and they are MUCH better. They are early facelift - I probably paid over the dds for them but wanted decent condition as my velour interior is mint - I have the estate back bench so can always use this for a re-trim of any damaged parts if it really bug's me!

So todays update - fitted seats:

out with the old:

Repair the new:

Fit the new:

Interesting the Recaro's are noticably narrower:

This is the extent of the ware on the drivers seat - not bad for a 11 year old breaker:

Oh, and look what the postman brought today!

So, Steinmetz get Eibach to do their springs!

(and they have told me that they had Bilstein B8's as Std fit on the original Steinmetz Omega's!)

Interesting the front seats have a different leather finish to those fitted in my Elite as standard from factory in 1998.

Mine are smooth finish black leather, but yours have a "honeycomb effect" ,like that alot.

Good job well done.

AFTER:

I'm happy.
