To sell or to break?
« on: 21 July 2007, 11:47:27 »

My old girl needs to go, but swmbo objected so it will have to be the car.. ;D

I'd appreciate opinions on whether to sell her as is or break.

She still has a couple of months MOT and I have no reason to believe that other than bits of brake pipe etc she won't pass next time too.    The reason for moving her on is the misfire on no.1 that I have failed to fix on the ht side and really don't have time to pursue further.

I'll post more details on the for sale section shortly,  but I'd appreciate advice from those who have experience on whether I am better off selling as she is - or to keep and break.
Aside from the inconvenience/mess/work to strip,  how much will she realistically make in parts?

'She' is a '94 2.0GLS estate manual. 186k

Cheers!

Ian

Sorry Ian, but I cant see you making that much either way. The car, as it stands, is worth virtually FA. If you advertise the fact that the parts are off a 186K car, cant see there being that much interest.

Sorry :(

being that its only a 94 might be hard to bring some money as a full car, they're startin at £350 on trader with less mileage

you might be lucky if people want body panels, as long as yours are rust free!`

break....headlights, rear lights, fog lights, alloys? interior switches ( right down to things like hazzard swiches) coolant tanks...

the list of things that will sell goes on and on and on - outwith the obvious things.

But it all depends f you have the space and time to do it  :y

Well I sold it - first morning it was out on 'trader :y.   Despite high miles I think the fact it was an estate seemed to provoke quite a bit of interest, including one chap who wanted to relocate it to Poland (fine by me but it had already gone).
