NO WHINGING!!!
« on: 02 September 2006, 17:42:30 »

I have decided to make a rule that is 'no whinging' about bargains I get. this is because I threw out a lifeline to you guys about a genuine bargain I saw on Ebay. NOBODY from here bought it! What are you like? £575 for a 1999 S-reg Estate? Last time I pass a bargain like that.

so....

NO WHINGING!

Unlike you Fin, the majority of us on here are not capable of putting a car right if its a wrong un. I would have had to be reasonably sure that it was in good mechanical order before buying. Unfortunately, there was not enough info in the ad to make me think that it was worth going for.
Old school thinking I'm afraid "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is"

So, next time you spot one, offer to come along and hold hands as well ;D

Exactly.  In my toolkit I have one Stanley knife, some pipe cleaners and an egg whisk.

There's no way I can go round restoring things with that kit.

You're lucky, you get eggs fried in yours, my missus uses ours to persuade me to do stuff around the house.  ;D

Ah, but how did you take the engine out?

It's easy with a JCB rear bucket!

Well said. I hung my spanners up years ago, would not have dreamed about doing an oil cooler if it wasn't for the help from you guys, and i enjoyed doing it. Bit of common sense and you can tackle most things [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Each to their own but I KNOW that there is far easier money to be made by buying late model ex company cars from the auction ( IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING) for around 4-6k and do no more than a bloody good valet.

£500-£1000 profit without too much hassle
