Peugeot noise
« on: 03 August 2007, 18:48:57 »

My mate has a Pug 407 2002 with 206k and a horrid noise that can be heard with the bonnet down!

It's coming from pretty much the area above the drivers front wing and sounds like a water pump top me.

Q.  Is is driven by the cam belt and wots the worst it will do if it fails - daily motorway miles.

I have a sound clip on my phone but its "amr" and not supported by Photobucket.

nasty  :( on the answer to your question whats the worst it could do....errr replacement engine. Worst Case, if its travelling at speed and it goes.

When was it last done...?
edit - that is if it was timing belt driven and the pump fails / shears and the belt slips...

If its not belt driven your more likely in the over heating area

You're a man, you know you just have to take it...it's in the marriage contract.

& Markie - it is belt driven so I've told him to park it up till it's fixed - been like that a week or so apparantly :o
