Cheers Daz, had a great time, thanks.  Managed 4 weeks without my OOF fix so was somewhat of an achievement in itself!

Heres a couple of pics to get a flavour of the break.

My son about to be launched into a 'parapunt' on the top of the Puy du Dome.....

One and a half heart beats later......

One of the D-day beaches (Omaha, I think....)

The church at St Maire Eglise, 10 km from the American landing beach and the one that one of the 101st Airborne landed on and played dead for a few hours before getting down.

A good trip, all in all.    :y

I get shivers up my spine seeing the pictures and imagining what went on... Brave people that shouldn't be forgotten.

What did your Son think of doing that then? what a view from up there..

Really quite spooky visiting the D-day beaches and the assorted museums/cemetaries in the area.  Makes you feel really minimal in the greater scheme of things.....    :'(

As for Junior and what he thought of his flight, better let the cheeser grin explain.....

Thanks peeps.  Yeah, weather was a blast but also had some spectacular rain and a cracking electrical storm that lit the sky for almost an hour one night but without a simgle clap of thunder or raindrop!!

Junior graduated from Uni at the summer and this was part of a graduation pressie.  He already flies a 13 metre kite with a beach board and a buggy and wanted to basically do the same thing but actually hang from it.  He got his wish.......     :D

No, not surfed with it as it needs to be a different type of kite.  This needs one with a rigid or inflatable leading edge so that when it lands in the water, it keeps its shape and can be re-inflated by the wind and get you going again.  The standard 'land' kites are like a parachute that need inflated by the wind passing through it.  Not easily done if its sodden wet on top of a wave in the oggin....

apparently......   ;D
