ANSWERS:

1.      In the UK on all single carriageway (two way) roads you must drive on the left. True or False
FALSE. There is one road in London that leads into the STRAND hotel, where you drive on the right. This was to assist cab drivers who could then let their passenegers out at the hotel by reaching behind them to the door handle.

2.      If stopped by the police for speeding and told to exit your vehicle, you do not have to. True or False
FALSE – If TOLD to get Out of the car that is an instruction. If invited or asked, that is a request which you do NOT have to abide by.

3.      It is an offence in the UK to carry a gun in your car unless you are either a firearms officer, a military person on duty or a member of a gun club. True or False
FALSE. I have carried a glue gun many times.

4.      The minimum acceptable eyesight for a driving test is the ability to read (with glasses if normally worn) a standard number plate at a distance of a) 19.5M b) 20.5M c) 21.5M or d) 22.5M
b)20.5 Metres

5.      If you are caught driving at over 100mph on a public road, you will automatically be banned. True of False.
False. But in general terms, you won’t get away with it unless you are a politician or policeman ‘practicing’

6.      If you speed going in reverse, you cannot be prosecuted as you have no accurate way of measuring your speed. True or False
False. You are still speeding even if you skid through a camera sideways!

7.      Long dotted lines with short gaps along the carriageway between your lane and the oncoming lane mean what?

Hazard. Usually on a bend, approaching a junction or the brown of a hill etc.

8.      Someone learning to drive is not allowed on any British motorway until they pass their test. True or False.
False. The only requirement is when they are DRIVING!!!

9.      You do not have to give any hand signals if you only have one arm. True or False
True

10.      It is an offence to wear any clothing when driving that gives the impression you are a police officer. True or False.
False if you are a police officer, otherwise it is TRUE!

How did you score?

My mistake. It was 1 am and I misread my own wording! The answer is FALSE because you DO have to get out if TOLD. If invited you do not have to.
