COIL PACK needed?
« on: 25 July 2011, 22:14:59 »

Hello All,

Please forgive me,I have not searched the forum for an answer to my problem as I am a little pressed for time with this one. My 2.5 Petrol V6 1996 Omega, has failed its MOT test on emissions, among other things, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons,(despite very friendly mot man who tried very hard to get it through!). I suspect the coil pack as Number 1 cylinder is not firing despite changing a suspect lead,(all the leads changed),and plugs. The car missfires and number 1 isolated as the bad penny via Tech 2.(injector ok).
Does anyone agree with this theory? and does anybody have a spare coil pack for sale?
As usual, thanks in advance for any help!

Cheers, Dave.

Crikey! Has it been doing this since the cam belt meet, or off the road?

I'll move this to the parts wanted section. BTW: there are several types so might be worth getting the old one out so you wan identify it.

Thanks kevin, yes it has been doing this all this time, better with the new leads and plugs but still misses a bit and chucks out too much naughty unburnt fuel!

I will endevour to see which one is fitted.

I have one still on my '97 2.5 that I am breaking. Postage from Spain might be an issue - probably a tenner as it is over a kilo I suspect. I still have the old defunct one somewhere so can let you know the part number by pm message. Edit pm sent with details.

Next visit to nearest post office 20 miles away is midday Wednesday.
