Project TB2 - Update 14
« on: 11 August 2007, 21:19:36 »

Been a while since last proper update.

The new gearbox fitted in June started playing up shortly after fitting, but has now been replaced with the stronger AR35.

The failed A/C has been regassed, and was working well.

Front bumper clip replaced, bumper replaced, and did stay on nicely until today, when it through its screw out.

Chip fitted ::)

Proper wheels fitted, rears now have good tread, fronts a little low. The vibration I had with the incorrect Hyundai wheels has gone.

Been using day to day, uses about as much coolant as it does diesel due to overpressurising.

Currently, stripping down engine bay ready for engine swap, as fairly certain head is cracked. Hope to replace engine next weekend, assuming I can get enough volunteers to help ;)

That's a big lump of engine, even after removal of all the accessories :o

Is that evidence of your cooling system issues over the driver's side inner wing?  ;)

Yup, its a big, heavy engine.  Fortunately, I am stocking up on Weetabix to build my strength up....

And yes again, several gallons of coolant/water/af/flush have been blown out of the top of the bottle :(

I should add that the chip has made the normal sluggish diesel much more lively.  Admittedly, the old tyres were completely shot, but I can honestly say that within 6 miles of having it fitted, I had perfected a powerslide in a diesel automatic. Granted, it takes a little provocation, and the tyres helped, but I was still pleasantly surprised...

Got some better rears on now, and can't get the same - I can get it hanging out, but not as controllable.

Due to my engine issues, I don't think I have realised the true potential, so full review to follow.

I would highly recommend any 2.5TD tractor owners get in touch with Omegatoy for a chip ;)

Hoping to complete the engine transplant this weekend, which will be the end of the major stuff.
