What do they really know?
« on: 16 August 2007, 22:17:20 »

You see, wherever I look on here - where folk are having trouble of mechanical ills, the clever people say things like; 'with those symptoms it must be ...  x  y  and z'.  And how right they usually are.

'Change the crank sensor', often followed by 'or she'll let you down big time'.

As oft as not, there'll be a few replies on whether code 19 really means death or something else (usually with a quick addition of, 'oh, running? - how?'),  the vitues of oil burners not needing working cam sensors, which engines will happily run without any of them connected any more, is it really the cam sensor that needs changing, is it the actual sensor anyway or the wiring, if its a real engine why only one sensor for the top, maybe it is the fuel line/filter, dis pack (enough now) etc.

So,  unrelated to cars (but still of things mechanical) imagine how I laughed when I came across this ...

Because (having read here), and without a paperclip in sight, even I know - it's the bl**dy crank sensor !
