Trade club
« on: 24 August 2007, 23:23:23 »

Okies .. more daft questions from me ... :( as I intend to do a lot more work myself .....

I've trawled the site for everything I can about Trade Club card and think I have the basics ...

1. You get one via Autobahnstormers for £20

2. Most (?) Vx stealers should take it

3. Savings are very good and it pays for itself fast.

The bits I don't have info on .... :(

Some posts mention a "Trade Club Book" and/or "item not on TC" ... I assume this means that not all parts are available ... so how do get a copy of the "book" in order to check, and does the contents apply to all Vx stealers ?

Any other info .. good or bad .. on TC would be appreciated before I apply for one

Thanks

The book is just that... without it, if you want to know something you have to post a question here :)

Not sure however if non-book members have access to the TC website? If so then all the info is there anyway. I use the book, I find it easier, but if I had only the website access I wouldn't complain.

...eeesh... some service items are not on TC for some reason, e.g. ATF.

Also, my Vx dealer gives me normal trade prices for all non-TC items, I understand that most dealers do that?

I blagged a book from Vx Parts Manager and to give an example I picked up a Pollen Filter today for £6.03 vx £8.65 retail.

Oil at £8.50 for 5l semi synth - buy 3 get 1 free.

Basically if you ask your local Vx dealer and make sure you can use the card you will save £20 without trying.  :y

I get on well with the parts bloke at my local VX dealer and he always gives me a good price on stuff thats not on the TC anyway, but the card is well worth having :y

Me too.  And I don't even have a TC card  ;D  The trick is to learn their names and they think they should know you too  :y  And ALWAYS let them finish thier bacon sarnies before they get your parts - that's worth an extra 10% ;)

Also: http://www.migweb.co.uk/

£15.00 takes longer to get card.

But with all of these -  Can be withdrawn ???

No problem with my VX dealer.

No idea what you're on about. Phil and Alistair at my Vx dealer are just a couple of helpful chaps doing their jobs. Phil was on holiday recently and....  ;D

It's all true by the way, including the holiday, and the names were not changed to protect the innocent....

One important thing to remember though....if you don't know what you want they'll sell you anything.

Today I took back two throttle body gaskets - cos they weren't for a Meega >:( (I had to reuse the old one) and he tried to sell me a non charcoal Pollen Filter - according to TC Book is for Pre '99 models only and mines an '03 ::)

Can't get the staff these days....I know this is true 'cos they're advertising for more on my invoice! ;D

If you get tradeclub through a club, you don't get The Book or website access (though blaggable ::))

You only get The Book if you join as a real motor trade company.

Participating dealers are on site (no need to log in) - http://www.tradeclub.co.uk

Our local Vx parts dept are still using the blue book, and don't know how to apply the 4 for 3 discount so he charges me £7.00 plus vat each for 3 cans and gives me a box of 4.
