Projects
« on: 24 August 2007, 18:16:21 »

Im going to be starting Project Beast later on in the year when my house sells.

Why not have a Projects part to the forum , so people can upload pics of their project as its getting done.

Lots of people on here do projects, so not a bad idea.

However, I personally am against too many boards on this site, hence why now all projects have been threads in Chat section. The software we use does not reliably allow nested sub-boards, and nor will the next ver

What do others think? More boards, less boards, same number of boards? Remove/merge some to add new?  We're always open to ideas, and I reckon the boards could do with tweaking now.

I personally think we have enough boards, no need to increase or decrease, i think its about right.

Projects before have been posted up in general chat, and i think thats the right place for them. - Maybe an archive section to put past projects in for people to browse, but unable to post.

I think we should get rid of the test board and replace it with Projects.

People can delete their tested thread anyway so cant see much point in having it?

The test area is important I believe, and is set up in different ways.

Ok ,

Im just saying as the site grows, more and more people are going to be doing conversions and projects. I think it would be nice to have a dedicated board to that so people could follow what they are doing and offer assistance or ideas etc

And a good suggestion.  Lets see what other feedback we get.

We do need to overhaul the board layout, so suggestions welcome.

One of the problems I have found with other forums (fora?) is that there are too many boards. You never know where to look and there is too much going on. Also they tend to be a bit clicky. The great thing about here is that it is really easy to find your way around and if you keep in touch it is very easy to keep up with everything and more importantly everyone.

I find OOF pretty well perfect. Great people, great experts and great atmosphere. As someone said the other day (I think it was Nickbat) it is a bit like going down your local pub for a chat. There's even the weird bloke in the corner who chips in on your conversation out of the blue. ;)

If you have a project and people find it of interest it will stay on the general chat board as it will be self perpetuating (Just look at the 'tractor saga' thats longer than Lord of the Rings fer breaks sake). If it is not generally interesting then it will fall off the bottom until you update it. If it contains more general information/instruction then post a 'How To' for placement in the 'Maintenance Guides' section.

Just my opinion but we don't like change down here. Remember what happened to Edward Woodward in The Wickerman? Sorry, did I say that out loud?

I agree i think the way it is  it`s easy to find my way around, and to keep in touch,

the more boards the more you are jumping backwards and forwards finally loosing orientation and

perhaps interest

By the way mines a light and bitter ;D ;D

You shoud have come to the Wales meet and I would have been only too happy to oblige. It's not that far from the Fatherland to Wales is it?
