Thanks to 3 admins,1 lord and a Baron..
« on: 25 August 2007, 22:47:41 »

Got down to changing the leaking passenger side cam cover, while the top was off, the dis pack and leads are being changed as well.

Timbuk and Markie helped out with a query on HT leads,  :y

and used 3 guides written by the Admins. :y

When the fuel injector assembly was out, 2 of the injectors and the area around the injector on the leaking side looked pitted so I decided to change the injectors with a couple from my donor car.

Got it all back together and it ran like a bag of spanners  :-?

Checked the error codes and got;
98 No6 injector low voltage  >:(
86 O2 sensor open circuit  :-X
31 Engine not running (true)

Thought the swapped injector must be FUBAR, stripped it down again to find that I hadn't pushed the injector plug on properly.

reassembled and got all my horses back  :y :y

Stuck some petrol in and went for a test drive down the M6 my private estate road  and all was well in the world again

So thanks to all for being there in spirit  :)

When stripped all 3 plug holes had oil in, 2 of the plug caps were cracked.

Whoever did the last cam cover seal change used sealant in the right places and had also put 4 drops of glue on to make sure the seal didn't fall out.

The cover was bolted down as hard as possible  :(

I hope they were the same injectors?

Good though!

I was led to beleive the smaller V6s had smaller injectors - but anyway it's good to get them working

Have you got the injector part numbers? Would be as well to check they are the same flow rate as you don't want to have a couple of cylinders running lean.

Number on the injector is 0 280 155 712

looks like a "D" electrical plug ref of 961

And flow?? 7.65

EPC identifies the same injector for both 2.5 and 3.0 ltr

If the injectors are the same part number there's no problem.

Correction

Number on the injector is 0 280 155 712

looks like a "D" electrical plug ref of 961

And flow?? 7.64

Went back to recheck (that little gremlin on my shoulder)

This is the number on teh main body 0 280 155 712

This is the number on the electrical socket D 961

This is the number under a symbol that I presume is the "flow" 7.65 on the ones fitted from the 2.5ltr this number is 7.64

EPC still only shows 1 injector common to both engines  :-/
