Are ex police Omegas a good buy?
« on: 30 March 2009, 17:16:55 »

Hi, I'm new to this forum and am about to purchase a 2003 "52" 3.2 ex Met police Omega, the bodywork & interior are tatty but it's only done 62K miles and is consequently very cheep. I've driven it and it goes well (and stops well). I used to have a 3.0 MV6 but the ex got it written off  http://images.omegaowners.com/forum/yabbfiles23/Templates/Forum/default/sad.gif
Can I trust the mileage to be genuine?
Will the car have been properly serviced before the Met sold it at auction, the dealer has no info at all.
Any advice welcome. Thanks

Hello and welcome  :y  Opinion is divided about ex-plods. Different forces have different standards these days. But remember it's basically a company car ( which is often run raggged!).

hi, i've got a 2000 ex-police 3.0 mv6 estate with 152k on the clock and I love it. I've had no problems with it, just the usual tatty bits like you mentioned. I got a printout of everything that was done to it whilst the cops had it tho.

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum, I see your from my neck of the woods :y

I personally wouldn't have one unless it was very very cheap and the milage is low for an ex police car :-/.
