Shall I sell the Veccy to fund a nice new Omega?
« on: 26 August 2007, 22:11:02 »

I'm looking at the possibility of buying an Omega. Needs to be a V6, pref estate and LPG.

I also know of where a couple of suitable cars may be going, depending on negotiations  ::) , and the depending on the value of the veccy.

So, should I do it?

What makes you think it'll need fixing up if I get an Omega?

Must admit after driving a veccy and a 'mega got to love that 'meega.  Has veccy got any advantage like a bigger load area etc... If not and you can bag an LPG, Watching for obvious pit falls and you'll know them go for it mate

his veccy is a 1.8 i believe....

A V6 LPG Omega in your price range will need attention, i got mine for a cracking price, but it still needs a new gearbox, oil cooler and possibly new tappets.

It has already cost me £120 in bits, with a replacement cambelt it will cost another £100, with loads of flushing for the oil cooler and other treatments. Air-con re-gas and few other odds and sods it will be around £300-400 to fix up.

As i recall you just sorted the sump on the veccy, and spent a fair few quid getting it running right.

I'd get your moneys worth, the veccy is an Estate, can take the dog around easily, take loads of tools to fix cars.

If in your position i would keep the veccy....

Because you only buy cars that need fixing, as you don't like to pay more than £3.50 for a car ;D

Did you know, I once paid £1250, for a P reg CDX that had knackered wishbones, half a cambelt, buggered climate, no brakes.....

I'm deadly serious too...
