Faulty Auto Box 99T 3.0 Elite Estate.
« on: 22 December 2009, 02:22:42 »

Hi Everyone,

Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong section.

The box om my 3.0 elite sometimes changes gears with a thud.
The box can be fine for a week and then misbehave and then go into limp mode.

If I turn off the car and re-start all is usually well again.

My local VX dealer fitted a nes switch £350 but the problem remained so the old switch was put back again.

I've had the car since a year old (17,000 miles) and have full VX history. The car now has 94,000 miles.

I may well sell the car but I don't think I could get a realistic price with this fault present.

Any ideas on how to fix and how much it would cost would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul.

Hi Paul, welcome to the forum.
A Carlton auto I used to have used to change with a thud when the ATF was low. It had a slight leak on the box and I knew when it wanted topping up when this thudding started to happen...topped it up and smooth changes again.
