Version 9 Autobox update
« on: 06 September 2007, 22:00:46 »

V6 to V9

Just had the gearbox updated by MDTM and the difference is amazing!

The changes that I have noticed so far are that the car seems to pick up far better, you don't get that 'clutch slipping' sensation where you have loads of revs but the box isn't using them, the throttle seems far more connected to the 'box if you see what I mean.

The changes are so smooth now that you barely notice them, as other people have said on here, sometimes the only way you realise the box has changed up or down is by the rev counter.

The Lockup and thud when the box eventually decides to change down appears to have gone now as well, never quite understood the circumstances that cause this to happen, but on my short drive back and taking a town route to try and replicate it, I have not been able to reproduce it.

Quite simply, if you haven't had this update done on your Omega then you really have too! It is the best single upgrade that can be done IMO.

MDTM has done the climate as well but I haven't meddled with it much yet, I have noticed that it seems a bit calmer now on startup.
I will post something up when i've seen / heard how it behaves in the day if it's warm.

The box tends to not change up as quickly when cold, is this gearbox S/W as well?

All GM boxes seem to do this, part of the warm up procedure when cold. Best solution is to press the snowflake 'winter mode' button which forces it to change up.

I sometimes do this when it gets on my nerves, just until I get to the end of the road.

NB. Don't try and pull out of a junction with this switched on!

The software update doesn't alter the cold start programme.

Must be the weather then!

I don't like revving cold engines - nor loading them.

Hmmmmm!

The opposite effect is when you've had the cruise set at motorway speeds and accidently hit resume while trying to cancel the indicator after turning out of a junction into slow moving traffic!  :o

Ah, yes, it likes to get back up to speed, and the box is more than willing to assist...

I had mine done at The Lakes meet & it's well worth it for getting rid of the 50mph lock-up clunk alone, let alone the other positives  :y
