you know what i did yesterday? i bought a set of 16 inch pre-facelift elite alloys.( i think there called softstar correct me if im wrong ) yup complete with 4 very good cond pirelli 6000 for £100 quid.

Please be careful with the second hand tyres Paul. You never know if some t*@t has kerbed them or worse. A blow out at 70+ is not what you want.  :-?

Sounds like a cracking deal on the wheels though.  :y

The idiot comment is a bit harsh.. it's no different to buying a used car with used tyres already fitted  :P

Having said that - I agree it's important to thoroughly inspect the tyres.

Having said that - I agree it's important to thoroughly inspect the tyres.

I was thinking that as I typed it but I still maintain, you never know if there has been any damage to the structure of the tyre and it is sometimes not possible to see the damage particularly on the inner wall.

In a perfect world we would all change the tyres when we buy a new car just like you're supposed to change the cambelt apparently. Duff tyres will kill you, a duff cambelt will only kill your engine.

As a minimum, very carefully check sidewalls.  Any signs of kerb rubbing, be cautious :)
