Remember there are 2 tails lights each side, and also check numberplate lights as well...

It may be the bulbs....try changing em for vx bulbs. Some bulbs can be slightly difference resistance and this could be upsetting it.
Or you may have something missing in the wiring, im sure someone else might know.

Or even just a poor connector - i sometimes get this after opening the compartment for cd changer in boot.

Quite literally giving the rear lights a light tap sorts this and removes the message  :y might be that simple

IIRC the front sidelights show up on this too - one of mine eventually went after a few (intermittent) warnings.  Was rather blackened when changed.

Please don't ask me how long it took to change ...

Go on tell us! ;) It only took me all afternoon to change both my side lamps. That's cos the driver's side headlight had to come out so I could sort the broken adjuster out.  >:(

No never! (ever)

Oh no - I was only changing the one.

And for the future ribbing thereof, it was the nearside - so I think I'm allowed to take a little longer ...

Yeah, but, but - at least the EML didn't show itself afterwards.

I've found it quicker especially on the passenger side to remove the whole headlight assembly. Grill off (2 screws) pop the trim off below the headlight (1 screw) there are 2 bolts below the headlight and 2 on top of it. Give it a wiggle and roberts your mothers brother.

Can't be any slower.

But maybe not with HIDs ( ;D)

That's it, it took me soo long because they're proper bright lights ...

Like me you'd have the washers that get in the way so the excuse for a bumper gets in the way and needs to be moved a bit.

When my battery packed up I replaced it with a Halfrauds one which is smaller so I slide it right back so I have access to the bulbs ;)

Okay, I've redeemed myself.

A tail light warning pop-up last time I called on Mark - whose prompt smack sorted that one out.

Anyway, it was going, and lo and behold a few days later when I fitted the reversing kit I must have disturbed it again.  This time 'it were broke for good'.  As the MOT is due and the indicators are rather pale I decided to buy new ones and change the single failed tail.

120 seconds (in the rain) for three bulbs.  I feel vindicated.

Shame it took the (nice) monkey at VX parts three (yes, 3) attempts at "the single filiment tail bulb - the small 5w one" to get a bulb that matched; but he tried.
