Alarming Problems......
« on: 16 December 2006, 17:18:58 »

Hi, woke this morning with neighbours banging on the door...

The alarm was going off on my car and had been for some time. Unlocking and locking the car did not stop it... Starting the car did not stop it either, let the car idle for about 4mins then shut it off and the alarm also went off

The alarm was a high pitched rapid chirping with no horn going off

Can someone help, what is this likely to be? Really dont want it to keep on going or the neighbours will hang me  ::)

Many thanks....

It may be the power sounder you can hear. Have a look at this thread, it may be of some help

Yep, when the NiCd backup batteries die, the sounder can go off for no reason... happened to me, but luckily the car was still under warranty and the sounder was replaced by Vx FOC. Could be any other problem with the sounder, but iirc then replacing the whole sounder with a new unit required Tech2 (TheBoy will know the answer to this...). You can always just unplug the sounder and take it off the car....

Not sure, but believe it is a simple swap - I don't think the sounder is coded to ATWS ECU.

Yes. I seem to remember one of our members (egcc?) changing the unit and iirc it didn't need tech 2.
