Clear your scuttle drain!

I decided to have a go at clearing my scuttle drain today with the aid of x25xe's very helpful guide - cheers for that! To my surprise I discovered the cavity half full of water :o Obviously it's been blocked for a while. I'm going to defend myself here and point out that I didn't realise there was a drain down there (I thought scuttle drain meant it's actually on the scuttle, like the driver's side one is) and being that my dual-fuel ECU is in front of the pollen filer I couldn't see anything without peering down with a torch.

If you let it get this bad it's loads more difficult cos all you can see is a big pool of muddy water, I had no idea where the drain was. A lot of poking around later (;)) and the water started to trickle out from underneath the car, but it would promptly clog again. Eventually enough water drained that I could see all the crud and I gave it a good clear out then poured some more water down to check it drains freely.

Hopefully my windows won't steam up so easily now, time will tell!

If you've been getting steamy windows, change the pollen filter as well. Sounds like you caught it just in time - could have damaged your lpg ecu as well as the climate fan controller...

Thats seems to be a popular place for the lpg installers to whack the lpg ecu.....mines in the same place....perhaps not the best place..... :-/ as also you have to remove the ecu to change the pollen filter.

I changed my pollen filter today and the drain was full of leaves.  I cleared it out only last April and I've rerad and heard so often that it blocks easily and traps water.

Thats nearly a year ago ;)

Every time I open bonnet, a have a peek to see how it clear it is - particularly in autumn and spring it can block quickly...

Thats nearly a year ago ;)

Every time I open bonnet, a have a peek to see how it clear it is - particularly in autumn and spring it can block quickly...

Guess who snapped one of theose plastic clips that keeps the pollen filter in?  :-[.. Mind you it was a tad brittle. Got a clothes peg doing the job for now.  Changed the oil and filter today as well just to keep it sweet..

Those clips do break.  My pollen filter is held in with a dab of glue, as my clips are bust  :-[

I can change mine easily enough, just enough room to get access without removing anything else.

BTW The pollen filter was changed a few months ago.

No the ECU doesn't but the car does.

I thought it was a silly place to put one!

Its probably got a little damp with your blocked drain, so worth renewing...

If you have a saloon check the rear storage bin on the drivers side in the boot - there is a vent in their that if covered may cause windows to mist up.  Remove blockage - job done  :y
