big speed up in the last five minutes... now about 10-12 secs to get a response then about 4 secs to build the page

It's gone back to very slow here .. 25 secs to connect .. then 27 to load the page !!  :(

I did notice that the member count was up to 35 + 11 guests that time ... I wonder if it is just the number of connections ?

It deffinatly speeded up, its now more or less on a stand still now.

Not much difference ...  23 to connect, 18 to load page ...  we are at 37 + 10 members ..

Took 25 secs from click to clear to type once all smileys loaded atc.  Marginally quicker but still, TBH, verging on unworkable for me.  You want another PM with TR?
