Coolant Level Sensor
« on: 12 February 2007, 02:03:52 »

I have a continuous "Coolant Level" warning/CHECK on my 2.5 facelift. Doesn't matter whether coolant level is normal, high or low I still get the warning when I first start engine or switch off. Is this a faulty sensor or does it require a Tech 2 reset? If it's the sensor, can someone tell me where it is? I have tried fiddling with the float inside the coolant reservoir but no change.

Any ideas?

The float is the sensor.....so if it isnt stuck and moves freely.....check the wiring underneath the reservoir.....if this is sound....then you need a new reservoir....about £40ish from vx dealer iirc

Or paperclip shoved in the connecter shuts the mid up.....however no future warnings of low coolant!

You've already been 'fiddling' with it! Oo er! ;)  The sensor is part & parcel of the header tank. If you lift the tank out you'll see the plug - you coud always check the connection before you condemn the tank. A new header tank is about £30 which is all nice & clean and white too!  :y

Same here, no amount of fiddling fixed it.
Sensor is currently a paperclip ;)

When it's next due a flush I will probably replace the tank.

Thanks for the input guys. Looks like I'll be needing a new header tank then. It's needing a new HBV anyway so I guess I'll be getting my hands wet this weekend!
