Alarm
« on: 11 February 2007, 02:20:39 »

Hiya guys. I have a bit of a problem with the alarm system on my 95 omega elite. The other night (had to be a late night didnt it, bloody 1am) i was out and when i returned home and just as soon as i turned the ignition off my alarm decided to go off; after pressing the buttons on my remote control fob and then turning the ignition on, the alarm went off. However, today whilst driving the alarm went off; i found that so wierd, i thought that maybe the alarm was still engaged but whilst driving made me think again.

Sorry for the long post, but i was hoping some of you guys could give me some help as to what it could be.

Cheers. :)

Hello mate

I don't know much about this, but I've heard that this can be caused when the battery in the sounder dies..

Certainly sounds like it's a faulty sounder,  on your car 1995 the sounder could be under the front left wing or under the splash guard below the windscreen drivers side, dead easy to replace..  dis the battery off first though..  Sometimes they alarm to make you aware of a sensor fault too, I had a faulty bonnet switch which kicked the siren in... can be confusing..  Maybe try an alternative known good one before spending..

Was it the power sounder or horn type alarm going off whilst driving?  Incidentally, did it happen in heavy rain?

Rain .......hmmmmm....... it may be time for a poll.
Mo, I am interested to hear which alarm it was, and after whether the weather played apart.

Cheers for the replys guys.it sounded like the power sounder alarm, but it was so confusing and embarassing as people i drove past must have thought i nicked the car, i look illegal in it as im 18 anyway, lol. I mite have to have a look at the power sounder see if it needs replacing. Any other reasons as to why it mite go off?  :)

Had you just been through a down pour?
It seems there may be a potential weakness there to getting a good soaking.
Happened to me at the weekend! :'(
